Frequently asked questions

Short answers about buying, wearing and servicing a Datejust.

Buying

Where can I buy a Datejust?

Only through official retailers. Watches sold anywhere else carry no warranty from us, and we cannot confirm they are genuine.

Why is there a waiting list?

Each watch takes about a year to make, and production is limited. Retailers keep lists for popular references and contact you when one arrives.

Can I choose the bracelet?

Yes. The Datejust 36 comes on an Oyster or Jubilee bracelet. Your retailer can show both on the same case.

Wearing

Is it waterproof?

The Oyster case is water-resistant to 100 metres, provided the winding crown is screwed down fully. Check it before swimming.

What if I don’t wear it for a few days?

The power reserve lasts about 70 hours. If it stops, wind the crown 20 to 25 turns, then set the time and date.

Why shouldn’t I change the date late at night?

Between about 10 pm and 2 am the date mechanism is already engaged. Set the time outside those hours first, then change the date.

Service and warranty

How long is the warranty?

Five years from the date of purchase, covering manufacturing defects. Keep your warranty card with the watch.

How often does it need a service?

Roughly every ten years, depending on how you wear it. If it starts running fast or slow, bring it in sooner.

Does a service change the look of my watch?

Only if you ask. Polishing is optional and we will ask before touching the case or bracelet.
